About TaNefer L. Camara, MS-HCA, IBCLC
I hail from Oakland California. Inspired by the legacy of Traditional Black Midwives & Healers I began my journey into Women’s Reproductive health and birth work in 2005.
I have supported mothers through pregnancy, birth & postpartum as a doula/healer/educator and am most known for my work as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I have a true passion for supporting women to achieve their personal goals whether it be breastfeeding, birth, or womb healing.
I combine my educational background in psychology & community health with Spiritual and ancestral wisdom. As a wife and mother of 4, I embody the virtues of Maat and bring that energy to my practice.
I add to my skill set and knowledge in maternal health, postpartum healing as an advanced traditional postpartum birth worker and Certified Yoni steam practitioner. I have studied ancient traditions from Morocco, West Africa, and the African American Southern traditions of my ancestors. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience as I help my clients identify their challenges and lovingly guide them through a plan to overcome them.
I have the ability to work with diverse populations and I tailor support to fit the needs of each unique person or group. I educate parents, families, and professionals on lactation, breastfeeding, and maternal healing. I have designed, implemented, and evaluated programs in maternal health and am the creator of the viral music video ‘Teach me how to breastfeed.’
